From the Mississippi Sheiks’ last Paramount session in mid-1932, follow-ups to their two biggest hits. Contrary to what has been indicated in print about this issue, these are not dubs (the added Crown matrix numbers are 1725-2 for “Sittin’” and 1726-3 for “Stop,” using the take numbers from the L master numbers which are also shown). This was likely issued contemporaneously with the Paramount and Broadway releases, rather than being a reissue. Crowns were pressed by Victor, so pressing quality is better than on any of the other master-pressed issues (Paramount, Broadway, and the Decca Champion reissue). This copy has some visible wear but plays very nicely, especially “New Stop and Listen” which has almost no distortion apart from what was inherent in the original recording, using a 3.0-mil stylus. One 2-groove passing dig on that side, and some light scuffing on both sides. MP3 available on request.
