Very nice copy of this Dallas String Band record, recorded in Dallas in late 1928, with the only issue being some heat damage that causes swish for about 1/3 of each revolution of the first 30 seconds on “Chasin’ Rainbows” and the first minute on the flip side. The damage causes an “orange peel” effect on the shellac that’s about ½” wide on “Chasin’ Rainbows” and many small fissures in the playing surface on the flip side, about 1” wide. Apart from that, despite a tiny bit of graying in the last minute of both sides, plays with no distortion using a 3.0-mil stylus. MP3 available on request. This record is from the personal collection of radio personality and music historian Barret “Dr. Demento” Hansen, who is starting to downsize portions of his collection.
