Half of the unfortunately small output by this surprisingly rural-sounding string band from south Philadelphia, recorded in New York. Bobbie Leecan played guitar with the South Street Trio and several other more jazz-oriented groups including Thomas Morris, in addition to duets with Robert Cooksey on harmonica. Leecan and Cooksey are joined on this session by Alfred Martin on mandolin, Eddie Edinborough on washboard, and an unknown cellist. This copy plays better than it looks, has almost no peak distortion and the level of crackle is lower than one would assume by looking at it. Lots of scuffing and light-to-moderate scratches, but still sounds great. MP3 available on request. This record is from the personal collection of radio personality and music historian Barret “Dr. Demento” Hansen, who is starting to downsize portions of his collection.
